Nomad Kayak Club

The Committee

···About our club

Nomad Kayak Club was formed in 1973 for local people to pursue canoe sports.  We are based at Rickmansworth Aquadrome in Southwest Hertfordshire.  We benefit from rivers, lakes, streams, the Grand Union Canal and even the local swimming pool - a variety that lends itself to all types of canoeing.  Special schemes allow members of the Club unlimited access to a high percentage of water in the area.

We are very much a family orientated Club - many parents of younger children also join to enjoy the friendly social events, some even go on to become members of the Committee, our (non paddling) Social Secretary arranges BBQs throughout the summer and many other events for all the family to enjoy.

···The Aquadrome

Our Clubhouse is based here, in Rickmansworth.  We have our own sheltered water training facility, together with an outdoor polo pitch.  During the summer, we meet as members each Wednesday, and often at weekends.  It is here that we run BCU 1, 2 and 3 star courses for members, so all that practice in the pool can be put to good use.

···Trips away

Once you become a more competent canoeist, you can join our trips away.  These vary from gentle paddling up the river Thames to basic whitewater training at Symonds Yat in Gloucester.  Many of our more experienced paddlers arrange trips amongst themselves to places like Holme Pierrepoint and the Tryweryn in Wales
