Nomads working party

Maintenance, News
On Saturday the 16th of March several club members assisted in the laying of roadstone in front of and between the storage containers to provide a solid walking area and in the connection of a permanent mains supply to the clubhouse, all ably coordinated by Chilly. Thanks to the number of members helping the jobs were completed without drama, except for the Travis Perkins lorry on it's second visit being unable to get a grip on the grass and threatening to take out the gate post! Thank you to everyone who gave their time to help.

Preparing to move to BLYM

Maintenance, News
On saturday 23rd of June nearly a dozen Nomads helped out with preparations to move to our new site next to BLYM. Ably coordinated by Chilly much work was done between 9.30 and 5pm including raising, partly realigning and restraining the 'bund' or earth bank around the site in preparation for the new secure boundary fence. Other work included clearing undergrowth, leveling the site and preparing for siting the boat storage containers. It was a hot day but despite this a lot of hard manual work was done and cakes and refreshments from Chilly reinvigorated us at lunchtime, just when we needed it. A big thank you to everyone who gave their time and took part. The move to our new site with security of tenure is very important and…

Rickmansworth Festival 2014 Feedback Across both Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th of May the Rickmansworth Aquadrome hosted the annual Rickmansworth festival. The event is a prime opportunity for the Nomad Kayak Club to raise its profile, secure additional members and generally highlight the sport of canoeing. Key statistics: 50+ NKC members helped across the weekend, many thanks to you all 75+ members of the public paid to ‘come and try’ canoeing A further 60+ members of the public are now keen to try canoeing at NKC This is all very promising and…
