Upcoming Trips

Thank you to the many club members who supported trips in 2017 and made them so much fun!

Nomad Kayak club runs a trip every month for members' enjoyment and to develop skills on different water. There's no charge for the trips led by coaches and experienced paddlers who specify the skill level needed.  Trips are normally on the second sunday or weekend of the month to avoid conflict with other club activities, so remember to keep this weekend free.

The club opens trips to as many members as possible, so if you haven't done BCU stars awards, ask a club coach to tell you your paddling level then ask the trip leader if you'll be OK for the trip. The trip leader's email address is on the sign up page. Boats and equipment can be borrowed for trips at a cost of £5 per day from the equipment officer. The club doesn't provide boat transport for trips, so please arrange your own and share lifts with other members on the signup page. If you want to come on trips regularly its a good idea to buy a car roof rack (Christmas hint!).

Trips are coordinated by trips officer Matt Greenshields and for questions about individual trips please contact the relevant trip leader by email. A big thank you to the trip leaders who give up their time free for club members!

New for 2018 - In addition to the trips shown below, whenever there's a whitewater trip we'll endeavour to run an alternative flat water day trip on the same sunday for non-whitewater paddlers. Keep an eye out here and in the newsletter for details.

2018 Trips Calendar

Sunday 27th May - Nene Whitewater Course - Sign up

Anthony Vecchio is organising another UNSUPERVISED PEER GROUP VISIT (not a led club trip!) to the Nene Whitewater Course in Northampton for paddlers who are prepared to sign themselves in as having 'relevant paddling experience on grade 2/3 water and are able to make break outs or ferry glide in order to stop or slow themselves down' and be responsible for their own safety. Anyone who's been on the Upper Wye or the Dee trips is up to this standard as well as others who are strong paddlers and feel confident with break outs and ferry gliding in fast moving water. Click here to see what it's like.

This is a great opportunity to practice moving water skills on a mild whitewater course only about an hour away. Meet in the NWWC car park at 1.30pm at the latest to be on the water for 2pm. Cost £12. You'll need to download and fill out their Medical Consent Form and Safety and Risk Declaration and take them with you.
